145-120 Advanced English As A Second Language 1

Credit points: 12.5 first year.

Prerequisite: All applicants will be required to sit a test to determine their level of language proficiency before they are able to enrol in this subject. Students who are native speakers of English or whose language proficiency is near-native are not eligible to enrol.

Contact: 5 contact hours per week.

Extension of academic language skills through a syllabus drawn from themes in Australian history.

Assessment:

Continuous assessment in oral and written work; two written assignments of approximately 1,000 words each; a spoken presentation of five minutes' duration; one three-hour exam.
