Coordinator: Dr R. Just, Dr. E. D. Lewis, Dr. T. O'Meara and Dr M. Patterson.
Prerequisite: Entry to Fourth Year Honours.
Contact: Up to three hours of consultation a week on a schedule to be determined by the supervising lecturer.

Objectives:
Students completing this subject should:
- have developed skills in researching the available literature on a specific anthropological topic;
- have thoroughly understood the theoretical and empirical issues raised by that literature;
- be equipped to formulate and target a specific area of future research at postgraduate level.
Content:
Intensive reading and/or research in a field of ethnological study and/or an area of topical concern not covered by other subjects available. The course of study may include an appropriate subject offered in another department.
Assessment:
Up to 6,000 words of written work.
