136-233 History of Technology

Credit points: 16.7 2nd year

Coordinator: Dr Peter Milner (Faculty of Engineering).

Prerequisite: Normally 12.5 points of first-year HPS.

Contact: Up to three hours of lectures, seminars or tutorials a week.

Timetable: Double semester

Objectives:

To examine the major periods of technological development from the Neolithic to the present.

Content:

Selected studies in the history of technology.

Assessment:

Performance throughout the year in field work (4 1/2 days); assignments totalling not more than 30 pages; and a 20-minute seminar presentation.
