131-434 Reading Course

Year 4 History.

Credit points: 16.7 4th year

Coordinator: Fourth Year co-ordinator.

Contact: Regular consultations with designated supervising lecturer.

Timetable: Either semester

Objectives:

To facilitate the student's powers of independent inquiry; to inculcate initiative in self-directed research; to increase understanding of an area of history not previously studied or to advance understanding of an area of already established knowledge.

Content:

A special study based on intensive reading selected from teaching interests within the department covering a subject not already taken or extending knowledge within a subject already studied.

Assessment:

One essay of 6,000 words.
