131-427 Processes of Migration and Settlement

Objectives:

At the end of this subject students should be able to demonstrate familiarity with relevant contemporary research and writing on twentieth century Australian immigration; show an understanding of issues involved in contemporary debates on central immigration issues; demonstrate in their writing a familiarity with central processes of migration and settlement, and the ability to undertake sustained investigation, through a case study approach, of selected issues in the processes of migration and settlement.

Content:

The historiography of migration and settlement: a case-study approach to selected ethnic groups in nineteenth and twentieth century Australia.

Assessment:

Written work amounting to no more than 6,000 words.
