Objectives:

On completion of this subject students should be able to: present a comparative outline of migrant settlement and adjustment in the United States and Australia from the nineteenth century until the 1930s; apply themes and analytical approaches derived from these historical comparisons to Australian immigration history.

Content:

Migration from Europe and Asia to the New World in the nineteenth and twentieth centuries, introducing important ideas and concepts in the study of immigration history.

Assessment:

Written work in the form of essays and class papers up to 5,000 words.
