Objectives:
Students completing this subject should have an understanding of the changing historiography of Australian history; should be able to make informed judgements about major historical approaches to the period; and should have explored the shaping of modern Australian society through two world wars and two major depressions, and the impact of migration from the United Kingdom, Europe and Asia.
Content:
A study of Australian society in the twentieth century, including Aboriginal/Koori - European relations since 1901.
Assessment:
One class paper 1,000 words (25%), one essay of 2,500 words (40%), one examination paper (25%), class participation (10%), totalling not more than 4,000 words.
