Prerequisite: Intermediate Swedish Second Year B (126-224).
Contact: A one-hour lecture and a one-and-a-half-hour seminar a week.
Timetable: First semester
Objectives:
At the conclusion of the subject the students will have:
- surveyed some of the main works of Swedish film and concentrated on four films;
- a synchronic and diachronic grasp of some of the principal features, periods and themes of European culture through acquaintance with Swedish culture.
Content:
Swedish history in the 19th and 20th centuries with an emphasis on cultural elements (August Strindberg, the Swedish novel and film).
Assessment:
Written work and language tests of not more than 5,000 words.
