Prerequisite: A pass in VCE German or equivalent standard.
Contact: Five hours a week comprising three hours of language study and two hours of Special Studies.
Timetable: First semester
Objectives:
At the conclusion of the subject the students will have:
- increased their proficiency in basic idiomatic and conversational forms;
- increased their proficiency in written structures of moderate complexity;
- increased their ability to interpret messages of an intermediate level of complexity occurring in a variety of audio-visual media and in individual and group spoken forms;
- acquired a basic knowledge of the principles of analysis of the subjects of their Special Studies units;
- achieved the level of language competency required for admittance into Advanced German First Year B (126-106).
Content:
Expansion of language skills through language study as well as through special linguistic, textual and/or background studies. (See departmental Course and Subject Guide for details of these studies)
Assessment:
One one-hour language test, a 15 minute oral examination, two written assignments totalling no more than 1,000 words, and two two-hour written exams (Special Studies).
