Objectives:
At the conclusion of the subject the students will:
- have been introduced to the basic spoken language;
- have knowledge of some of the grammatical structures of the German language and have attained the capacity to apply these principles in speech and writing;
- command the ability to read and evaluate a small range of German texts;
- have achieved the level of language competency required for admittance into Beginners German First Year B (126-102).
Content:
An introduction to spoken and written German for students with little or no knowledge of German.
Assessment:
Homework assignments and 10 minute class tests 20%, aural comprehension test (40 minutes) 10%, oral examination (10 minutes) 20%, written language test (2 hours) 50%. Only students who have attended at least 80% of the classes will be admitted to the final oral and written examinations.
