121-201/301 Using Computers in Research

Credit points: 16.7 2nd and 3rd years.

Prerequisite: Successful completion of 121-230/330 Microcomputer Applications for Arts Students or 104-399 Scientific Techniques and Computer Applications in Archaeology.

Contact: Lecture (1 hour) and laboratory session (2 hours) per week

Content:

The subject will familiarise students with accessing and acquiring information from the various types of resources available on computers, both local and international, that are attached to the Internet. It will also include advanced techniques for the manipulation and display of data on a computer.

Assessment:

Two computer-based research projects (100%) totalling not more than 5,000 words.
