Objectives:
Students completing this subject should, in addition to the above:
- have a sound knowledge and understanding of different aspects of artistic production in the Burgundian Netherlands during the fifteenth century.
Content:
Netherlandish painting, sculpture and book illumination; artistic patronage at the Burgundian courts; the graphic arts; new developments in portraiture and secular art in the context of civic life.
Assessment:
Written work which may comprise class papers, essays, visual tests or take-home examinations totalling about 6,000 words.
