Objectives:
In addition to the above, this subject aims to:
- facilitate the students in gaining a thorough knowledge and developing a deeper understanding of different aspects of the history, philosophy, design and architecture of art museums in America, Australia and Europe.
Content:
A critical examination of the history of private collecting, the rise of the Art Museum in the late C18th and C19th and its various functions in western culture up to the present.
Assessment:
Written work which may comprise class papers, essays, visual tests or take-home examinations totalling about 6,000 words.
