Objectives:
In addition to the above, students completing this subject should:
- have acquired a good working knowledge of the stylistic and iconographic developments of the era.
- have a broad knowledge of the documentation of major lost projects and of other relevant literary material.
- be aware of major scholarly contributions to the field and be able to appreciate the practical and methodological foundations on which they rest.
- have gained research and writing skills appropriate to the study of the art of the period.
Content:
Style, Iconography and Function in Christian Art from the Catacombs to Iconoclasm.
Assessment:
Written work which may comprise class papers, essays, visual tests or take-home examinations totalling about 5,000 words.
