Objectives:
In addition to the above, students completing this subject should:
- have a detailed knowledge of the materials and techniques of painting and works on paper.
- have a broad understanding of the materials and techniques of sculpture.
- be familiar with the ethical and theoretical issues raised by cleaning, restoration and authentication of works of art.
- have an introductory understanding of museology, conservation and display.
Content:
A study of the materials and techniques used in the creation of works of art, in particular, paintings and works on paper.
Assessment:
Written work which may comprise class papers, essays, short reports or take-home examinations totalling about 5,000 words.
