Objectives:
In addition to the above, students completing this subject should:
- be aware of critical and theoretical issues current in the study of Modernist art in the period 1850-1918.
Content:
This subject will examine the impact of modernity (industrialisation, urbanism, social and political change) on concepts of identity, reality and the role of art. Key themes will be the body, gender, nationalism, utopianism and the avant-garde.
Assessment:
Exercises and/or essays and/or visual test totalling not more than 4,000 words.
