Year 4 Classical Studies.

Prerequisite: Admission to the Honours School in Classical Studies.

Objectives:
Students on completion of the subject should be able to analyse and evaluate a range of evidence relating to Latin language, culture and society (varying according to the level of Latin attempted) and have adequate preparation for conducting independent research.
Content:
The subject is composed of two elements: (i) One of Beginners' Latin A; Intermediate Latin A; Intermediate Latin C; Advanced Latin A; Advanced Latin C (50%). (ii) An advanced topic on Roman Literature and Society involving an introduction to research techniques in Classical Studies (50%).
Assessment:
Written work, tests and examinations totalling no more than 6,000 words.
