Objectives:
Students on completion of the subject should have acquired the basics of Akkadian grammar; have an initial understanding of the problems of Akkadian epigraphy (the cuneiform script).
Content:
The basic grammar and syntax of Akkadian; reading of simple texts illustrative of various aspects of Babylonian culture.
Assessment:
- 104-265/365:
- Regular exercises and class tests (30 per cent) and a 2-hour examination (70 per cent).
- 104-465:
- Written work, tests and examinations totalling no more than 6,000 words.
