104-254/354/454 Intermediate Semitics B

Prerequisite: 104-253/353/453 Intermediate Semitics A.

Contact: Three hours a week.

Timetable: Second semester

Objectives:

Students on completion of this subject should have a developed reading knowledge of Classical Hebrew, and a general knowledge of the grammar of the Semitic languages.

Content:

A reading course in Classical Hebrew literary texts and inscriptions. The focus of this subject is on detailed linguistic analysis and interpretation of selected texts from a wide range of literatures.

Assessment:

4th year

Written work, tests and examinations totalling no more than 6,000 words.
