Objectives:
Students on completion of the subject should have acquired the elements of the grammar, syntax and vocabulary of Latin and have attained reading skills sufficient to begin reading literary texts.
Content:
Revision of elements; additional grammar and syntax; reading literary texts; translation exercises; background lectures on Roman culture.
Assessment:
Regular exercises and class tests (30 per cent) and a 2-hour examination (70 per cent).
