104-103/203/303 Intermediate Ancient Greek A

Availability: Not offered in 1996; expected to be offered in 1997.

Credit points: 18.75 1st year, 16.7 2nd and 3rd years

Coordinator: Dr C J Mackie.

Prerequisite: VCE Ancient Greek or equivalent, or Beginners' Ancient Greek B.

Contact: Four hours a week.

Objectives:

Students on completion of the subject should have read a number of Ancient Greek texts in the original and consolidated their knowledge of grammar and syntax.

Content:

Reading literary texts; further work on grammar and syntax; translation exercises; Ancient Greek literary criticism.

Assessment:

Regular exercises and class tests (50 per cent) and a 2-hour examination (50 per cent).
