Timetable: First semester
Objectives:
At the conclusion of the subject students should:
- understand the nature and sources of law, its administration and statutory interpretation;
- understand introductory Law of Property and introductory Law of Torts;
- understand the framework of Commonwealth Environmental Legislation, the Victorian Environmental Effects Act and the Victorian Environmental Protection Act.
Content:
Law of torts, including negligence, occupier's liability, nuisance, professional negligence and the duty of care. International, Commonwealth, State and Local Government powers and legislation relating to environmental matters.
Assessment:
There will be two written assignments totalling not more than 4,000 words (25 per cent) and one 3-hour examination at the end of the semester (50 per cent).
