<OBJECTIVES>On completion of this subject students should be able to:
<ul>
<li>understand adult education in a national and international framework;
<li>evaluate adult education issues addressed in the literature;
<li>synthesize from their reading and experience an Australian perspective on adult education; and
<li>make analytical comparisons of adult education in Australia with that in other countries.

<CONTENT>National approaches to adult education and lifelong education; adult education in national development; educational agencies; institutional and non-institutional types of programs; the training of adult educators.
<ASSESSMENT>A minor assignment of 1,500 words (30 per cent); a major assignment of 3,000 words (70 per cent).
