Dr M Olekalns first semester Classes totalling 2 hours a week On completion of this subject students should be able to:

• demonstrate an ability to formulate a research question with testable propositions;
• apply appropriate research techniques to a contemporary management or industrial relations issue;
• demonstrate sound analytical and written skills.

The research topic must be approved by the Head of the Department of Management and Industrial Relations. The research essay should not exceed 15,000 words. A 10,000-15,000 word Research Essay (80%) and seminar assignments of up to 2,000 words (20%).
