18.75 1st year Associate Professor J S Martin. First semester Five classes a week, including an hour in the language laboratory. At the conclusion of the subject the students should have:

• a basic understanding of the Swedish language;
• developed skills in the integrated use of Swedish in spoken and written form;
• developed a thorough knowledge of the principal grammatical structures of the Swedish language;
• achieved the level of language competency required for admittance into Beginners Swedish First Year B (126-122).
