<OBJECTIVES>By the end of the subject, students should be able to:

<li>Understand the various styles of language and text of modern Russian;
<li>Identify the stylistic features of any text and appreciate their function in that text.
</ul>
<CONTENT>Introduction to the general principles of stylistics and current analysis of the styles of Russian; the stylistic resources of Russian, with special reference to syntax and lexicology. Theoretical topics and practical analysis.
<ASSESSMENT>By regular assignments totalling no more than 5,000 words (3rd year), 6,000 words (4th year)
