<OBJECTIVES>By the end of the subject students should be able to:

<li>Understand the principles and problems of translation;
<li>Translate from Russian into English complex non-technical texts;
<li>Translate from English into Russian texts of medium difficulty.

<CONTENT>Linguistic and literary theory of translation; practical translation from Russian at an advanced level.
<ASSESSMENT>By assignments totalling up to 5,000 words.
