<OBJECTIVES>Students who complete this subject should be able to:
<ul>
<li>understand how political ideologies in the post-1945 world have developed;
<li>understand how these ideologies have helped to shape our world;
<li>understand why there has been a backlash against the radical ideologies developed in the 1960s, 1970s, and 1980s.
</ul>
<CONTENT>Is socialism dead? Can the Greens fill the gap? Is there too much political correctness? Survey and analysis of contemporary social and political movements emphasising class, gender, race, the environment, and sexuality. Will examine the ideologies of movements, the historical context in which they arise, and the consequences for politics.
<ASSESSMENT>Witten work totalling 4,000 words.
