16.7 2nd and 3rd years Paul Cubberley. Beginners' Russian B, VCE Russian or equivalent. First semester Three hours per week. By the end of the subject, students should:

• be able to demonstrate a firm understnding of the relevant areas of the Russian language;
• be able to describe particular secitons of the system in appropriate linguistic terms;
• be able to relate the Russian system to other languages that they have studied.

Russian phonology, morphology and morpho-phonology. Regular assignments and two 1-hour papers, totalling 5,000 words.
