<OBJECTIVES>Students on completion of the subject should have acquired the elements of the grammar, syntax and vocabulary of Latin and have attained reading skills sufficient to begin reading literary texts.
<CONTENT>Revision of elements; additional grammar and syntax; reading literary texts; translation exercises; background lectures on Roman culture.
<ASSESSMENT>Regular exercises and class tests (30 per cent) and a 2-hour examination (70 per cent).
