16.7 2nd and 3rd years Ms Anne de Kretser. Intensive Beginners' Japanese, Beginners' Japanese, or equivalent. First semester Six hours a week throughout the semester. Intermediate grammar and syntex taught where possible in situational contexts using multi-media materials. Emphasis is on developing communicative competence. Oral and written weekly class exercises (20%); one 2-hour test (40%), two oral tests (20%) and two aural tests (20% each).
