<CONTENT>An introductory subject on Japan. Examines major themes in Japanese civilisation and their role in Japanese life today to provide the socio-cultural content for language acquisition.
<ASSESSMENT>A 2-hour written examination (50%), written work not exceeding 1,600 words (40%), tutorial participation (10%).
