<PREREQUISITES>Students must be enrolled in the Indonesian Honours Program, and enrolment in the subject is subject to approval of the Coordinator. Students should note that approval of a course of reading will be subject to availability of staff with expertise in the field concerned.
<OBJECTIVES>Students completing this subject should be able to:
<ul>
<li>undertake independent research in Indonesian and Malaysian studies in areas of interest to them for which supervision is available;
<li>present the findings of their research in a scholarly manner.
</ul>
<CONTENT>Islam in Southeast Asia, Indonesian linguistics, modern Indonesian and Malay literature, modern Indonesian history and politics, Indonesian anthropology.
<ASSESSMENT>Written work totalling 6,000 words.
