<OBJECTIVES>Students completing this subject should have an understanding of the changing historiography of Australian history; should be able to make informed judgements about major historical approaches to the period; and should have explored the shaping of modern Australian society through two world wars and two major depressions, and the impact of migration from the United Kingdom, Europe and Asia.
<CONTENT>A study of Australian society in the twentieth century, including Aboriginal/Koori - European relations since 1901.
<ASSESSMENT>One class paper 1,000 words (25%), one essay of 2,500 words (40%), one examination paper (25%), class participation (10%), totalling not more than 4,000 words.
