<SEMESTER>Double semester
<CONTACT>Three hours of lectures per week.
<OBJECTIVES>The emphasis is on the study of Hindi prose and poetry.
<CONTENT>Authors from the 15th century to the present are studied. Students read a short novel and excerpts from medieval and modern Hindi poets. Hindi is spoken where possible in class discussions.
<ASSESSMENT>Two 1,000-word essays (20%), 25 short weekly essays (minimum of 150 words) (20%), one 2-hour class presentation in Hindi (20%) and one 3-hour examination (40%).
