<OBJECTIVES>Students on completion of the subject should have acquired an enriched knowledge of the language through the use of modern Hebrew literature, the modern idiom spoken in Israel today, its vocabulary, grammar and syntax, to prepare for a broader range of experiences and use of the language and in social and cultural activities.
<CONTENT>Modern literary texts in prose and poetry; modern conversational idiom and grammar.
<ASSESSMENT>

<dd>Regular exercises, essays class tests and an oral test (50 per cent) and a 2-hour examination (50 per cent).
<dt><b>4th year:</b>
<dd>Written work, tests and examinations totalling no more than 6,000 words.
