INTERMEDIATE GERMAN FIRST YEAR A 18.75 1st year Associate Professor B Donaldson. Beginners German First Year B (126-102) or equivalent. First semester Six hours a week comprising four hours of intermediate language study and two hours of Special Studies. At the conclusion of the subject students will have:
  • explored all major facets of the grammar of German;
  • increased their vocabulary to a moderate level of complexity in the speaking, aural understanding, reading and writing of German;
  • acquired a basic knowledge of the principles of analysis of the subjects of their Special Studies units;
  • achieved the level of competency required for admittance into Intermediate German First Year B (126-104).
Acquisition and expansion of language skills through intensive language training and a variety of special studies. A two-hour language test at the end of semester, a one-hour listening comprehension test, an oral exam, two Special Studies tests and regular vocabulary tests throughout the semester.
