<OBJECTIVES>In addition to the above, students completing this subject should:

<li>have acquired a good working knowledge of the stylistic and iconographic developments of the era;
<li>have a broad knowledge of the documentation of major lost projects and of other relevant literary material;
<li>be aware of major scholarly contributions to the field and be able to appreciate the practical and methodological foundations on which they rest;
<li>have gained research and writing skills appropriate to the study of the art of the period.

<CONTENT>Style, Iconography and Function in Christian Art from the Catacombs to Iconoclasm.
<ASSESSMENT>Written work which may comprise class papers, essays, visual tests or take-home examinations totalling 6,000 words.
