<OBJECTIVES>In addition to the above, students completing this subject should:
<ul>
<li>have a broad understanding of the cultural development of Australia in the twentieth century and the role of the visual arts in shaping and presenting that culture.
<li>have an ability to analyse a painting, sculpture, or building of the twentieth century in relation to the social and aesthetic mores of its time.
<li>have developed an understanding of how the writing on Australian art history developed over this time, and its salient features.
</ul>
<CONTENT>A study of 20th century Australian painting, sculpture, architecture and critical writing.
<ASSESSMENT>Written work which may comprise class papers, essays, visual test or take-home examinations totalling about 5,000 words.
