<OBJECTIVES>Students who complete this subject successfully:
<ul>
<li>will have acquired advanced knowledge of Old English;
<li>will have read widely from the earliest surviving anthology of English poetry;
<li>will be familiar with trends in the critical reception of Old English literature over the past four centuries;
<li>will be aware of how to use information technology to assist them in more advanced research.
</ul>
<CONTENT>This subject studies selected poems from the earliest English anthology, in the original language, with emphasis on the historical and religious context.
<ASSESSMENT>Written work of not more than 6,000 words.
