16.7 3rd and 4th years Relevant Coordinator. Written approval of Head of Department. A 1-hour tutorial per fortnight and 9 hours reading per week. Students completing this subject should be able to:

• undertake independent research in areas of interest to them and consistent with the aims of the subject
• present the findings of their research in a scholarly manner.

Focused, independent reading under the supervision of a member of the teaching staff of the Department. Up to 5,000 words of written work at 3rd year level and 6,000 words at 4th year level.
