<TITLE>SUPERVISED FIELD STUDY</TITLE>

<PREREQUISITES>Approval of Departmental Coordinator.
<CONTACT>The equivalent of 9 hours per week field work and meetings with supervisor/s as required.
<OBJECTIVES>Students completing this subject should:
<ul>
<li>have gained an insight into the operations and practices of a criminal justice agency;
<li>have acquired some understanding of the political processes underlying the work of the agency;
<li>have developed some skills in policy analysis and applied research;
<li>have learned to present the research findings orally and in writing to practitioners and criminal justice professionals.
</ul>
<CONTENT>A research placement in a criminal justice agency.
<ASSESSMENT>Up to 5,000 words of written work at 3rd year level and 6,000 words at 4th year level. Assessment may also include an oral presentation to the agency and/or student peers of the major findings of the project.
