• be able to incorporate into their theses Chinese language materials related to their thesis topic;
• have become familiar with the techniques and standards of literary translation.

An independent translation of Chinese text equivalent to 5,000 words in English translation. Written work not exceeding 6,000 words. Students submit an English translation of a Chinese text, chosen by the student and approved by the supervisor, by the end of first semester.
