<OBJECTIVES>Students who complete this subject should have reached approximately the same level as Chinese 1B. They should be able to speak in an acceptable standard accent, write at least 400 characters and conduct conversation on a limited number of everyday subjects.
<CONTENT>An accelerated subject for students who speak a dialect of Chinese but who cannot read or write Chinese characters or speak Mandarin.
<ASSESSMENT>One aural/oral examination (30 minutes); assignments and short written tests (maximum 2,500 words); homework to a maximum of 3,000 words. Students are required to attend a minimum of 70% of all classes in order to be eligible to take the examination.
