<OBJECTIVES>By the completion of the subject students will have an understanding of some of the main kinds of cultural production in contemporary Australia; a theoretical grasp of debates about 'high' and 'low' culture; an understanding of 'national' and 'international' imperatives in cultural production.
<CONTENT>An introduction to Australian literature, art, music, architecture, etc. , 1970-1994.
<ASSESSMENT>Not more than two pieces of written work totalling a maximum of 6,000 words per semester subject. An examination may be substituted for one or more pieces of written work.
