<OBJECTIVES>Students should on completion of the subject have acquired a general understanding of the main aspects of the material culture of ancient Mesopotamia and its evolution, and its relationship to Mesopotamian society as a whole and the skills for the interpretation of this culture.
<CONTENT>Art and archaeology of the Sumerians, Babylonians and Assyrians from the first villages to the collapse of the Assyrian empire.
<ASSESSMENT>3,000 words of written work (50 per cent) and a 2-hour examination (50 per cent).
