<OBJECTIVES>Students on completion of the subject should have acquired an understanding of the material culture of these two civilisations; a familiarity of the archaeological methods used to interpret the artefacts; and an appreciation of the role of these two cultures in the ancient world.
<CONTENT>An introduction to the Minoan (Cretan) and Mycenaean (mainland) cultures of Greece.
<ASSESSMENT>Written work of 3,000 words (40 per cent), one slide tests (30 per cent) and a 1-hour examination (30 per cent).
