<OBJECTIVES>Students completing this subject should be able to:

<li>critically assess the theoretical approaches and analyses made by anthropologists and others to the various ways in which members of human societies consider and behave in relation to procreation, reproduction and social organisation.
</ul>
<CONTENT>The subject will cover a critical history of approaches to 'kinship', the relation of gender to kinship studies and methodology, and an analysis of controversial issues in relation to procreation and reproduction in society.
<ASSESSMENT>Seminar paper and essay totalling 3,000 words and a three hour examination.
