On completion of this subject, students should: better appreciate the integrated nature of forestry and land management in Australia; be able to contrast and compare issues and practices; have basic skills including communication, conflict resolution, dealing with the media and personnel management. 20 field days involving a range of field based activities which demonstrate the range of forestry and land management issues. These will be presented in an integrated and multi-disciplinary manner. Some of these activities will be hands-on. In addition, basic instruction in skills including communication, conflict resolution, dealing with the media and personnel management will be given. An excursion of up to 10 days duration will examine the forestry and land management issues of regions too remote to be serviced by the field days. Attendance and participation in the field days and excursions. Submission of a report detailing the activities. The subject will be marked as pass or fail only.
