<OBJECTIVES>On completion of the unit, students should be: competent in the identification, taxonomy and morphology of eucalypts, conifers deciduous hardwoods and other important elements of the Australian flora; aware of the distribution, characteristics and uses of many Australian forest species.
<CONTENT>Recognition of eucalypts and other native trees and shrubs, conifers and deciduous hardwoods; geographic distribution, properties, and uses of selected trees adn shrubs.
<ASSESSMENT>A 3-hour written examination and written tests and practical assignments may be given throughout the course
